Characterization of fast ion transport via position-dependent optical deshelving

چکیده
Ion transport is an essential operation in some models of quantum information processing, where fast ion shuttling with minimal motional excitation necessary for efficient, high-fidelity logic. While and cold has been demonstrated, the dynamics specific trajectory during diabatic have not studied detail. Here we describe a position-dependent optical deshelving technique useful sampling ion's position throughout its trajectory, demonstrate on linear $^{40}\text{Ca}^+$ surface-electrode trap. At high speed, trap's electrode filters strongly distort potential waveform. With this technique, observe deviations from intended constant-velocity (100 m/s) transport: measure average speed 83(2) m/s peak 251(6) over distance 120 $\mu$m

متن کاملInvestigation of fast ion transport in TORPEX
Basic aspects of fast ion transport in ideal interchange-mode unstable plasmas are investigated in the simple toroidal plasma device TORPEX. Fast ions are generated by a miniaturized lithium 6+ ion source with energies up to 1 keV, and are detected using a double-gridded energy analyzer mounted on a two-dimensional movable system in the poloidal cross-section. The signal-to-noise ratio is enhan...

15 صفحه اولEvidence for fast-ion transport by microturbulence.
Cross-field diffusion of energetic ions by microturbulence is measured during neutral-beam injection into the DIII-D tokamak. Fast-ion D(alpha), neutron, and motional Stark effect measurements diagnose the fast-ion distribution function. As expected for transport by plasma turbulence, anomalies relative to the classical prediction are greatest in high temperature plasmas, at low fast-ion energy...
متن کاملFast electron transport in high-intensity laser- plasma interactions diagnosed by optical and ion emission
Light and proton emission from rear surface of sandwich-like targets, which are irradiated by intense femtosecond laser pulses, have been measured. It is found that both of them depend on the transport material and density inside the targets. For metal transport layers the patterns of the optical images and the proton beams are uniform. While for the transport layers of dielectric, low-density ...
